For 2009, we are partnering with the
Interlochen College of Creative Arts
to bring you the 2009 Chapman Stick® Workshop

Interlochen Center for the Arts

Nestled in the woods of Northern Michigan, the Interlochen Center for the Arts is one of the most prestigious music schools in the country bringing together

Guitar Festival and Workshop

Since the adult arts programs started, the Guitar Festival and Workshop has been one of the highlights featuring world class peformers and teachers including names like Leo Kottke, Jimmy Bruno, Paco de Lucia, Daryl Stuermer, Andy McKee, John DeFaria and a host of others. The workshop includes three days of courses and daily evening concerts in Interlochen's Corson Auditorium. This year's program features world class guitarists Andrew York, Laurence Juber, Vic Juris with Corey Christiansen and the Mel Bay Trio, Denis Azabagic and Frank Koonce.

2009 Chapman Stick Workshop

For 2009, Interlochen will include a Chapman Stick workshop in conjunction with the guitar workshop. Both will take place the same weekend and the evening concerts will feature both the visiting guitar teachers and Stick teachers. Participants in this workshop must turn 18 years of age on or before August 20, 2009.

To commemorate the 40th anniversay of the discovery of the Free Hands tapping method, players of the Stick will have the opportunity to attend classes taught by instrument creator Emmett Chapman as well as master performer and teacher Greg Howard.

Stick players who also play guitar will have the option of bringing both instruments and putting together an itinerary that includes both Stick and guitar courses.
